Gary Launches 2 Dingers, But Rio Rancho HS Wins
The Rio Rancho HS Goats weathered a fine game by Lodi HS designated hitter Kevin Gary to upend the Devils, 9-8, at Ballpark of Rio Rancho. Gary hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Jake Harris snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 2 hits over 2 innings. He's now 1-0 on the season. Ron Corrigan earned the save for Rio Rancho HS, his 4th.

George Webber had a big 3-run home run for the Goats in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Rio Rancho HS trailing 6-5 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a curveball from fireballing right-hander Howard Cummins and swatted a home run to right-center. It was his 4th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Goats ahead, 8-6.

Webber expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."

The last-place Goats now have a record of 7-13.
