Trendsetters Lose to Harpoon, 6-1
|
The New Orleans Trendsetters had to reckon with Hartford Harpoon hurler Sergio Vélez. Vélez, who is tied for 6th in the IL in complete games with 2, overwhelmed the opposition in the 6-1 Harpoon triumph. Milton McLean earned the save, his 2nd. Hartford is now 53-57.
Juan Carlos Gutiérrez was 1 for 3 with a walk for Hartford. The 11-year veteran had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring single off Júlio Estrada. It was his 72nd hit of the season.
Gutiérrez attributed the win to his team's "grittiness."
