Neo-Tokyo Grounds was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Neo-Tokyo Akira and Niihama-shi Ghosts.

The Neo-Tokyo Akira trumped the Niihama-shi Ghosts, 9-8, at Neo-Tokyo Grounds. Neo-Tokyo first baseman Gary Smale was terrific. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Neo-Tokyo pitcher P.J. Henry got the win, upping his record to 3-5. Curt Merrill got the loss.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Smale hit a changeup from Curt Merrill for a run-scoring single. The Akira, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"Nothing is scripted in this game," said Smale.

The Akira now have a record of 42-67.
