Zephyrs Take Down Apollos, 5-3
|
The Reno Zephyrs picked up a win at Gisolo-Duppa Field, dropping the Tempe Apollos, 5-3, in 11 innings. Tony Day was the difference-maker. Anthony Soame notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. His record now sits at 2-4. Hong-yeol Chong was called on to finish, recording his 3rd save.
Kenkichi Daikawa came through with a big-time hit for Reno. The designated hitter smacked a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
Day said his team "played with focus and determination."
Reno, at 53-54, occupies 4th place in the Sovereign League Desert Hills.
