Getting offensive support from Wendell Guiney, the Crystal Lake Sandgnats topped the Okinawa Shisa, 5-3. Guiney slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Sandgnats. The winner was Crystal Lake reliever Manuel Gonzáles, now 1-0. The loser was Bill Evans. The first-place Sandgnats improved to 64-45.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the 15th. With two out, Guiney hit a fastball from Bill Evans for a 2-run home run. The Sandgnats, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"The crowd was juiced," said Guiney.
