Calzones of Laredo Suffer 5-3 Setback
|
James Caldwell did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the San Antonio Calzones of Laredo from being beaten, 5-3, to the New Orleans Trendsetters at New Frontier Park. Caldwell went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Joe Arnold picked up the win, improving his season record to 6-6. He struck out 4 in 5.2 innings. Picking up his 1st save was 30-year old right-handed pitcher Esteban Benítez.
Harold Belafonte had a big solo home run for the Trendsetters in the bottom of the sixth inning. With New Orleans leading 3-2 and the bases empty, he sized up a cutter from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Gustavo Longoria and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Trendsetters on top, 4-2.
"I think it speaks for itself, I think we came out and we played our kind of baseball," said Belafonte.
New Orleans sits in 4th place in the Imperial League Dixie at 47-61.
