Shin Seiki Dismisses Neo-Tokyo, 5-3
|
Though the conditions were not ideal, the Shin Seiki Evas and Neo-Tokyo Akira came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
The Shin Seiki Evas topped the Neo-Tokyo Akira, 5-3, in Sovereign League action at Neo-Tokyo Grounds. The standout performance belonged to Shin Seiki pitcher and Chicago, Illinois, native Johnny Arthur. Arthur, now 15-8, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 3 runs.
Shin Seiki relied on the hitting of Jorge Reyes to pick up the win. The shortstop ripped a 2-run triple in the top of the first inning to put the Evas on top, 3-0. For the game, Reyes had 1 triple and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," Arthur told the Shin Seiki Observer.
The second-place Evas have won 4 straight games.
