Bastide Leads Trendsetters to Win
|
The 7-2 New Orleans win over Manchester was due in large part to Michel Bastide. The Trendsetters left fielder went 4-4 with a triple and 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The 4th-place Maulers have dropped 4 straight games.
Pancho García had a big 2-run double for the Trendsetters in the bottom of the first inning. With New Orleans leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a cutter from Derek Valera, who finished 5th in the IL in strikeouts with 172 in 2033, and swatted a double to center. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Trendsetters ahead, 3-0.
"We need to keep playing good baseball," García told the New Orleans Herald.
