Zephyrs Dealt 3-1 Loss by Aurora
|
The first-place Aurora Borealis picked up another win.
In a low-scoring contest between the Aurora Borealis and the Reno Zephyrs, Brenden Clymo, who won the Golden Arm Award in 2036, proved to be the difference. The Aurora right-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-1 Borealis win. Clymo yielded 1 run over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 2. His record improves to 18-8. Héctor Gutiérrez notched his 41st save in 43 chances.
Fernando Rodríguez was 1-3 for Aurora. The 26-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Tony Day. It was his 24th RBI of the season.
"We busted our tails," said Reno manager António Morales. "But we came up short."
The first-place Borealis, at 95-62, lead the Sovereign League Desert Hills by 4 games.
