Battousai Take Home 2-1 Win Over Fushigi Yugi
|
A good time was had by all at Newark Grounds, where the Fushigi Yugi Celestial Warriors and Edo Battousai tangled.
In a tight tilt between Edo and Fushigi Yugi, pitcher Santiago Sandoval was a key contributor. The right-hander earned accolades for his standout performance in the 2-1 Battousai win. Sandoval, the winner, moves to 10-7. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 1 walk. Earning the save was Vicente Ramírez. He's now cashed in 20 of 24 save opportunities.
The Battousai got a big at-bat from catcher Francisque Coimbra. For the game, Coimbra was 2 for 3 with a double. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 20th double of the season gave Edo a 2-1 lead.
"Sometimes a win comes easy," Coimbra told the Edo Observer. "And sometimes you have to scratch and claw."
The Celestial Warriors, now 66-95, have lost 4 straight.
