Jade Tigers Pick Up 4-2 Road Win Over Taipei
|
Gwangju Jade Tigers starter Pedro Suárez turned in an exceptional performance against the Taipei Wardens at Taipei Tianmu Baseball Stadium, resulting in a Gwangju win, 4-2. In 6.1 innings, Suárez surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. Sylvester Mills was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 14 of 14 save opportunities.
The Jade Tigers got a big at-bat from first baseman Jeff Stone. For the game, Stone was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 39th home run of the season gave Gwangju a 2-0 lead.
Said losing manager Phil Anderson: "I think Susan Sarandon said it, 'Hit it where they ain't.' We didn't do a very good job of that tonight."
The Jade Tigers bumped their record to 81-76 with this latest triumph.
