Islanders Get Close Win Over Balloonists, 3-2
|
Islanders Ballpark was the site of a competitive game between the Gatineau Balloonists and Laval Islanders.
The Laval Islanders earned a close win over the Gatineau Balloonists, thanks in part to José Cabrera. The Laval right-hander, who is tied for 10th in the PCAL with a 2.86 ERA, played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Laval reliever Dimian Aldrama got the win, raising his record to 4-11. Pat Vega was tagged with the loss.
Tien-kai Yei drove in one run for Laval. The 21-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Tyan-yu Zeng. It was his 6th RBI of the season.
"Like I've always said, I'm the straw that stirs the drink," Cabrera said (again).
The last-place Islanders go to 53-60.
