Behind a solid performance from second baseman Héctor Ramírez, the Medicine Hat Drillers defeated the Gatineau Balloonists, 5-3. Ramírez went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Drillers. Takashi Nakai locked down his 16th save. Medicine Hat is 42-66 and Gatineau, with the loss, 59-49.
Ramírez contributed a big hit, a 2-run double, for Medicine Hat in the top of the third. With his team trailing 2-1, Ramírez took a fastball from Octávio Ortíz and stroked the double to left. His 18th double of the season allowed the Drillers to leap in front, 3-2.
"When their pitchers are leaving stuff over the heart of the plate, we're not missing it," said Medicine Hat manager Michael Burton.
