Phantoms Bump Off Stampede, 4-1
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Toronto Phantoms and Calgary Stampede.
The Phantoms grabbed a win, 4-1, at Ballpark of Calgary, overcoming a fine effort from Calgary pitcher Jimmy Johnston. Johnston went 6.2 innings and allowed 4 runs. Galterio Caccio closed the game out for Toronto, earning his 22nd save.
Toronto used a timely hit from Fo-hian Peng to get the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Phantoms ahead, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a difference-maker.
"Watch and learn," said Peng. "This is what good pitching looks like."
Toronto now sports a record of 55-53.
