Malts Stop Akira, 5-3
|
Neo-Tokyo first baseman Gary Smale had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 5-3, to Madison at Neo-Tokyo Grounds. Smale was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times. Seong-chin Kim picked up the win, lifting his record to 10-2 on the season. He struck out 3 and walked 3 in 5.1 innings, while yielding 1 run. The Malts raised their record to 51-55.
Madison won the game in part because of Jeff Gibbons. The right fielder ripped a solo home run in the top of the first inning to put the Malts ahead, 1-0. For the game, Gibbons had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"It's good to win," Gibbons told the Madison Daily. "I like to have fun doing it."
