Laval pitcher Júlio Lozano did his part in helping his team defeat the Sherwood Park Hoods, 4-1. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. In 7 innings, Lozano surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 6. He allowed 1 run. Dimian Aldrama closed it out for Laval, earning his 18th save.

The Hoods had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Islanders going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old third baseman Yoritoki Yamamoto came to the plate. Yamamoto hit a 2-run home run on a 2-2 curveball from Sherwood Park hurler Pedro Martínez. It was Yamamoto's 18th home run of the year.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Sherwood Park skipper Takanobu Rin, "and it cost us."

The last-place Islanders lifted their record to 46-58.
