Balloonists Suffer 4-1 Loss to Islanders
|
Laval pitcher Gustavo Peñaflor did his part in helping his team beat the Gatineau Balloonists, 4-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. The winning pitcher was Peñaflor, now 9-7. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 3. At 44-54, the Islanders claim last place in the Pacific Alliance Maple Leaf.
Had Liam Coinneach not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Coinneach hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-1, in favor of the Islanders.
"Anything I can do to help the team win," said Peñaflor.
