Though he had a great game, Francisco Cruz could not single-handedly produce a win for Laval. Gatineau won the game, 4-2. Cruz was 3-4 with a home run and 2 doubles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Peter Hill picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 6-2. Brad Flynn was tagged with the loss. Diego Gómez notched his 26th save in 27 chances.
Had Anzai Ogawa not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Ogawa hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Balloonists.
Ogawa called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
Gatineau, at 53-44, sits in second place in the Pacific Alliance Maple Leaf.
