Sánchez Impresses as Celestial Warriors Knock Off Jade Tigers, 5-1
|
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Fushigi Yugi Celestial Warriors and Gwangju Jade Tigers.
Fushigi Yugi Celestial Warriors starter Carlos Sánchez was in midseason form, as he helped his team beat the Gwangju Jade Tigers, 5-1. Wayne Kearney picked up the save for Fushigi Yugi, his 1st of the year.
Sánchez, the winner, is now 1-0. In 7 innings of work, he gave up no runs on 2 hits, while collecting 10 Ks. He essentially shut down the Gwangju offense.
"Carlos is pitching with a lot of determination and a lot of fire," said Fushigi Yugi manager Van Landrigan.
Gwangju is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 6 in a row.
