Romano Jacks Two Home Runs in 4-3 Bakersfield Win
|
Bakersfield beat Reno at Washoe Field, eking out a 4-3 win. The win was due in large part to right fielder Bernardo Romano. He went 3-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Luis Zapata was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Tony Day. At 37-65, the Bears find themselves in 5th place in the Sovereign League Desert Hills.
Romano had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a full count fastball from Tony Day, he banged a solo home run to left, giving the Bears a 4-3 lead. It was the 15th home run of the year for Romano.
"I'm trying to see the ball big, see the ball up in the zone and put the barrel on it," Romano told the Bakersfield Citizen.
