Codgers Take Down Zephyrs, 2-1
|
The Reno Zephyrs wasted an inspired, 8-inning effort from starter James Berridge, falling, 2-1, to the Palm Springs Codgers in 15 innings at Washoe Field. Palm Springs pitcher Jonathan Bleazard earned the win, hiking his record to 1-1. Hong-yeol Chong suffered the loss. Palm Springs, at 57-43, occupies third place in the Sovereign League Desert Hills.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Ryan Cattanach? The former first round draft pick Cattanach stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 15th inning to put Palm Springs up, 2-1. For the game, he was 2 for 7, including 1 double and 1 single.
In postgame comments, Cattanach said, "I think we gave the fans their money's worth."
