Statesmen Sunk by Thoroughbreds
|
The Kentucky Thoroughbreds did just enough to sneak past the Charleston Statesmen, 1-0, at Raceway Park. Kentucky pitcher Kyle Colquhoun, in particular, had a standout performance. Colquhoun got the win, improving to 4-10. He gave up 5 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. He allowed no runs. At 42-58, Kentucky is in last place in the Imperial League Dixie.
The Thoroughbreds got a big at-bat from left fielder José Cruz. For the game, Cruz went 1 for 4 with a home run. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 12th home run of the season gave Kentucky a 1-0 lead.
"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Colquhoun.
