Santo Domingo got a valiant performance from pitcher Larry Neal, but it wasn't enough to beat the Punta Cana Mamajuanas. Punta Cana won the game, 3-2. Neal threw 8.0 innings of 1-hit ball for the losing team. António Fernández picked up the win in relief for Punta Cana, while Lúcio Young took the loss. The last-place Mamajuanas own a record of 15-29.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Punta Cana. That's when Paul Cooper hit a 2-run home run off 19-year old right-handed pitcher Lúcio Young to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

"We hit some balls hard and didn't get rewarded for it," said Santo Domingo manager Pat Plummer.
