Bridgetown Drops Santo Domingo, 5-2
|
Bridgetown Flying Fish starter Shirai Matsumura pitched well against the Santo Domingo Decepticons at The Pit of Kaon, leading his team to a win, 5-2. Matsumura got the win, improving to 2-7. He gave up 3 hits and walked 4 over 7.1 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Valentín Mejía, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2042 draft, nailed down the save.
Bridgetown used a clutch at-bat from Jesse Robinson to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Flying Fish ahead, 4-2. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Bridgetown manager Doug Erickson. "It's usually not just one thing."
The Flying Fish win now puts them at 22-20.
