Late Offense Lifts Punta Cana to 5-1 Victory
The Puerto Plata Pacos could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Mike Ames into a win. Instead, the Punta Cana Mamajuanas prevailed, 5-1. Ames threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Punta Cana reliever Xu-gang Guan picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Ryuichi Kichikawa was saddled with the loss. The Pacos fall to 5-7 and continue their lackluster start in 2042.

A crucial at-bat came with the bases empty and no one out in the bottom of the eighth inning. That's when pinch hitter Kawanari Yokota hit a triple. The Mamajuanas went on to win.

Said losing manager Shawn Clarke: "Obviously, we wished for a better outcome."
