Martínez Leads Decepticons to Win
The Punta Cana Mamajuanas inaugurated the 2042 campaign with a disappointing 12-8 loss to the Santo Domingo Decepticons at Safeway Grounds. Santo Domingo third baseman Lorenzo Martínez had a big impact on the outcome. He was 3-5 with 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 4.

Martínez contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Santo Domingo in the top of the fifth. With his team trailing 4-3, Martínez took a fastball from Bang-xao Shih and stroked the home run to right-center. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Decepticons to leap in front, 6-4.

"It was great to come out and swing the bats," Martínez told the Santo Domingo Daily News.
