Farstriders Lose to Harpoon, 3-1
|
The Hartford Harpoon picked up a win at Mack Stadium, courtesy of Sergio Vélez. The right-hander helped his team stop the Florida Farstriders, 3-1. Vélez got the win, improving to 9-6. He gave up 6 hits and walked 0 over 7 innings. He allowed 1 run. Hartford has now won 4 straight, while the Farstriders have lost 3 in a row.
Gerard Stark had a big solo home run for the Harpoon in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Hartford leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a knuckleball from Miguel Boroa, who is tied for 4th in the IL in wins with 10, and punished it. The result was his 13th home run of the season, which put the Harpoon on top, 3-1.
"Sergio was cooking with gas," said Hartford manager Fernando Muñóz.
