Losing Trend Continues for Addis Ababa
|
Cairo designated hitter Sam Rogers played a vital role in his team's 5-3 conquest of Addis Ababa. He was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for Cairo. Paddy de Smet got the win, improving to 1-8. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 2 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 4. Ismael García, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 2nd save.
With Cairo leading 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Rogers hit a changeup from Bill Cramer for a grand slam home run. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Pharaohs ahead, 5-0.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Rogers told the Cairo Times.
The Pharaohs sit in last place in the Intercontinental Baseball Coalition Red Sea League with a record of 9-37.
