Rifters Keep Streak Alive with Late Rally
|
Fans watched the Addis Ababa Rifters and the Cairo Pharaohs fight to the finish.
The Addis Ababa Rifters locked up a win at The Rift, knocking off the Cairo Pharaohs, 3-2. On the mound for Addis Ababa was right-hander Wing-fung Go. He played a major role in the triumph. Allen McGuicken earned his 8th save, after closing out the game.
Addis Ababa took a 3-2 lead on Alan Hodge's 2nd home run of the season. The solo home run, which Hodge hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Cairo pitcher José Blanco visibly frustrated.
"Not enough offensively in a winnable game," said losing manager Lyle Ferrell.
Cairo, at 5-21, has lost 4 straight.
