Modernists Get 6-0 Win Versus Cairo
|
Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Asmara Modernists take on the Cairo Pharaohs.
Left-hander Tony Slocombe mesmerized the Cairo Pharaohs while leading the Asmara Modernists to a 6-0 victory. In 5 innings, Slocombe surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 1. He allowed no runs.
Tin-jong Zhang drove in one run for Asmara. The 19-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Hyo-jin Cho. It was his 5th RBI of the season.
Said Cairo manager Lyle Ferrell: "When you don't score, it's never a good thing."
Asmara, now 9-5, has gotten their season off to a good start.
