Pirates Reel Off Another Win
|
Mogadishu beat Port Sudan at Nasra Agil Stadium, eking out a 5-4 win. The win was due in large part to second baseman Jorge Guzmán. He went 2-3 with a triple, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 runs. Dana Patton recorded the save, his 5th. Early on, the Pirates, at 12-2, have played an impressive brand of baseball.
Arnie Frost had a big run-scoring double for the Pirates in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Mogadishu leading 4-2 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from 18-year old right-handed pitcher Robinson Acosta and swatted a double to right. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Pirates ahead, 5-2.
"I believe in our guys," said Mogadishu skipper Iwao Sanu. "I like the energy they're playing with."
