Bitters Slap 3-1 Loss on Devils
|
The Melbourne Bitters converted a terrific effort from starter Alejandro García into a win over the Hobart Devils at Devils Ballpark. The Bitters won the game by a final score of 3-1. García, the winner, moves to 5-4. He threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up no walks. Noriaki Suzuki closed it out for Melbourne, earning his 8th save.
Steef van Oord came through with a big-time hit for Melbourne. The pinch hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Alejandro was able to locate to both sides, up and down," said Melbourne manager Travis Mitchell.
Melbourne, at 41-45, holds down 5th place in the Intercontinental Baseball Coalition Tasman League.
