Duluth Wins, 6-5, Over Codgers
|
Fans witnessed a whale of a game between the Duluth Warriors and Palm Springs Codgers.
Palm Springs got a terrific game from right fielder Stephen Milk. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Duluth, 6-5. Milk was 2-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Shirai Mori wrapped it up, recording his 22nd save.
Duluth used the clutch hitting of António Gutiérrez to snag the win. The shortstop drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Warriors ahead, 6-5. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"You need to show up when your number's called," said Gutiérrez.
The Warriors improved their record to 50-46 with the win over Palm Springs.
