Tauranga Gets 4-2 Win
|
The Tauranga Taniwha converted a terrific effort from starter António Vázquez into a win over the Melbourne Bitters at Victoria Field. The Taniwha won the game by a final score of 4-2. Randy Lockhart, credited with the save, is now 5 for 7 in save opportunities. With the win, the Taniwha hiked their record to 42-37.
Tauranga used a clutch at-bat from José Hernández to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Taniwha ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Tauranga skipper Christian Butler.
