Aces BC Collect 2-0 Win Versus Tauranga
|
In a well-pitched game between the Auckland Aces BC and the Tauranga Taniwha, pitcher Nelson Castro was superb. The Auckland right-hander helped his team win, 2-0. Amattaken Mutahi, now 3-2, was credited with the win in 2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 2 and walking 1. The loss makes Tauranga 41-37.
Auckland needed the clutch hitting of Chi-yong Kwon to seal the deal. The designated hitter swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Aces BC on top, 2-0. For the game, Kwon had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Nelson was hitting his spots," said Auckland manager Marcus Stuart. "It's hard to pitch better than that."
