Taniwha Take Nail-Biter Over Aces BC
|
Pitching was the name of the game for the Tauranga Taniwha and the Auckland Aces BC. Tauranga won it, 2-1, in 10 innings. Tauranga starter Joseph Shimeld was in command. The Taniwha are now 41-35, while the Aces BC fall to 31-45.
The decisive blow was delivered by Mauro Valeucia in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a solo home run off 18-year old right-handed pitcher Jay Gonzáles to win the game for Tauranga. The home crowd went nuts.
"This place was rockin'," said Shimeld.
