Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at Devils Ballpark.
The Tauranga Taniwha wiggled past the Hobart Devils, 4-3, at Devils Ballpark. The win was highlighted by the performance of Tauranga pitcher Young-kwang Yang. Luis Cantú, now 2-2, was credited with the win in 2 innings of relief. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 0.
Luis Bañuelos came through with a big-time hit for Tauranga. The designated hitter smacked a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Nice to keep stacking the wins," said Bañuelos.
Tauranga raised its record to 40-35 with the win.
