Auckland Falters Again, Loses, 3-2, to Wagga Wagga
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Wagga Wagga Crows and the Auckland Aces BC, 19-year old right-handed pitcher Roman Raikov proved to be the difference. The Wagga Wagga right-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-2 Crows win. Sotaro Hasegawa got credit for the save for Wagga Wagga. It was his 5th of the year. The losses continue to mount for Auckland, which has now dropped 9 in a row.
Luis Antonio Alonso had a big solo home run for the Crows in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Wagga Wagga leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he got a splitter from 19-year old right-handed pitcher Nelson Castro and swatted a home run to left. It was his 7th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Crows ahead, 3-1.
"We bring energy to every game," said losing manager Marcus Stuart. "But it's got to translate into wins."
