In a low-scoring contest, Auckland pitcher Wayne Baker was marvelous, enabling his team to nab a 3-1 win. Auckland reliever Norberto Pérez was the winner. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Tim Fowler. Jay Gonzáles collected his 14th save.
Ben Medina helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he hit a full count fastball from Yong Yi for a run-scoring double, to give Auckland a 1-0 lead.
"I put my work in and trusted the process," said Baker.
The win puts the Aces BC at 28-34, while the Bitters drop to 29-33.
