Auckland took on Tauranga in a contest which featured a pitchers' duel. Millard Washington, in particular, was fantastic. The Auckland right-hander helped his team snag the win, 1-0. Reliever Jay Gonzáles picked up the win. His record improves to 2-2. Ryan Villanueva took the loss. Auckland is now 25-32.
Auckland got a knockout punch from Juan Flores. The first baseman hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"This place went bananas," Flores said.
