Taniwha Pin 2-1 Loss on Auckland
|
The Tauranga Taniwha picked up a win at Aukland Grounds, downing the Auckland Aces BC, 2-1. On the mound for Tauranga was right-hander Young-kwang Yang, who played a pivotal role in the win. Tauranga is now 29-27, Auckland 24-32.
Naizen Kurihara drove in one run for Tauranga. With one out and the game tied in the top of the seventh inning, Kurihara, who is tied for 2nd in the IBC in doubles with 15, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Auckland hurler Javier Gonzáles, he grounded out, driving in 1 run to give the Taniwha a 2-1 lead.
"Young-kwang did exactly what you're supposed to, pounding the zone," said Tauranga manager Christian Butler.
