Taniwha Earn 5-4 Win Versus Kookaburras
|
Starting pitcher Joseph Shimeld pitched well enough to help the Tauranga Taniwha beat the North Sydney Kookaburras, 5-4. Tauranga now sits at 25-25, while North Sydney falls to 26-24.
Tauranga got a clutch hit from Naosuke Niiya. The pinch hitter launched a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a kill shot.
"Sometimes you get the ball in the right spot and it goes," said Niiya.
