|
Starting pitcher Bartolo González gave the Sunshine Coast Crocodile Hunters a rock-solid effort. The Higüey, Dominican Republic native helped his team defeat the Melbourne Bitters, 1-0, at Victoria Field. In 7 innings, González surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. Rodrigo García notched his 4th save of the season.
Sunshine Coast won the game in part because of Jon Baker. The left fielder ripped a solo home run in the top of the second inning to put the Crocodile Hunters ahead, 1-0. For the game, Baker had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"A confident pitcher is a dangerous thing," said Sunshine Coast manager Tom Wickersham. "That's what Bartolo is right now."
At 18-29, the Crocodile Hunters claim last place in the Intercontinental Baseball Coalition Tasman League.
