Nakamura Delivers 4-2 Win
|
Baypark at the Mount was the site of a competitive game between the Tauranga Taniwha and Brisbane Stevedores.
Brisbane pitcher Sumitomo Nakamura had a large part in his team subduing the Tauranga Taniwha, 4-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. Sean Floyd saved it for Brisbane.
The standout performance belonged to 19-year-old Nakamura. With his baby face, he looked more like someone starting for a high school team than for the Stevedores. His performance, however, was nothing short of top-notch. The youngster dominated the Taniwha, striking out 7 and scattering 2 hits over 7 innings. Nakamura is now 3-2 on the season.
Nakamura attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."
Brisbane now sports a record of 26-17.
