In a low-scoring game between Melbourne and Auckland, pitcher Connor MacDade was excellent. The Melbourne left-hander helped his team knock off the Aces BC, 1-0. The winning pitcher was MacDade, now 3-1. He tossed 6.2 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6. Picking up his 5th save was 18-year old right-handed pitcher Miguel Calderón.
Diego Morales had a direct impact on the outcome. Morales contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the seventh inning to put Melbourne up, 1-0.
"It's a mindset," said MacDade. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
At 20-21, Melbourne is in 6th place in the Intercontinental Baseball Coalition Tasman League.
