Riding the 2-hit performance of the 20-year old left fielder Carlton Wakeham, the Melbourne Bitters stopped the Tauranga Taniwha, 3-1, in 9 innings. At 17-20, the Bitters find themselves in 6th place in the Intercontinental Baseball Coalition Tasman League.

In the first inning, Wakeham had a 2-run home run for Melbourne. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Bitters on top, 2-0.

"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Wakeham told the Melbourne Daily. "But we take nothing for granted."
