Taniwha Handle Wagga Wagga, Snag 4-1 Win
|
Ryan Villanueva never let the Crows get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Taniwha to a win, 4-1. Villanueva picked up the win for Tauranga, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 3-1. Tauranga is now 14-21, Wagga Wagga 20-15.
Tauranga third baseman Andrés Ramírez contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a fastball to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 11th hit of the season and put the Taniwha ahead, 3-1.
"Ryan set the tone with his ability to attack the hitters," said Tauranga manager Baden Tamburrino.
