Wagga Wagga Crows starter António Miranda pitched his team past the Auckland Aces BC, 4-2. The 6th-place Aces BC dropped to 13-17.
The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Steven Acheson came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Auckland pitcher Zhong-shan Ku, he hit a first pitch sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Wagga Wagga on top, 3-2.
"António attacked hitters and trusted his stuff," said Wagga Wagga manager Ronnie Russell.
