Taniwha Rally Late to Nip Kookaburras
The rain came, as predicted, but the Tauranga Taniwha and North Sydney Kookaburras were able to complete their ballgame.

Tauranga pitcher Joseph Shimeld did his part in helping his team beat the North Sydney Kookaburras, 4-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Picking up the save was Luis Cantú, his 9th.

Eisaku Saito came through with a big-time hit for Tauranga. The first baseman smacked a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Saito told the Tauranga Daily News. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."

The win for the Taniwha raised their record to 15-14.
