Tight Tilt Goes to Gorillas, 3-2
|
The Gimpo Gorillas picked up a win at Hwaseong Fortress Stadium, courtesy of Graeme Underhay. The right-hander helped his team stop the Suwon Morning Swords, 3-2. Underhay, now 8-4, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 8, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. José Polanco sewed up the save, his 1st.
Gimpo used a clutch at-bat from Jorge Torres to capture the win. The catcher hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Gorillas ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said Suwon manager Héctor Galló.
The Gorillas now own a record of 48-33.
